THE VISION
"In 1993, my mother Lucy was 33 years old and four months pregnant when her husband — my father — burned her alive. In one day I lost my mother to femicide and my father as the perpetrator. Days later I went back to school. It was Mother's Day. I fainted singing the mother's hymn. No teacher knew what to do. No protocol existed. No name for what I had become.
I spent 33 years documenting that silence.
In 2026 I am closing the circle — building the tools I needed at age 11. So no child ever goes back to school after a femicide with no one trained to catch them."
— Arcy Grace, Founder of LUCY33 · Daughter of Lucy · Geneva, 2026
THE NEWS SUMMARY
GENEVA / GLOBAL — May 10, 2026 — Every 10 minutes, a woman is killed by femicide. While global systems count the victims, they have ignored the 1 million people—children, grandparents, aunties, and siblings—impacted by the aftermath every year.
Today, the LUCY33 Initiative officially launches, introducing a new global category: Femicide Affected People (FAP). This is the world's first analytical framework designed to move beyond the "body count" and provide institutional safeguarding for the families left behind. Built on 33 years of documented case history, the initiative provides the first global protocols for school reintegration and institutional support for the "living survivors" of gender-based violence.

33 Years Old: Lucy’s age when her life was taken in 1993.
33 Years Later: The time it took to transform "documented impunity" into a global tool.
33 Years of Data: The duration of the longitudinal lived experience of the children, aunties, and grandparents who survived the aftermath.

THE DATA ANGLE: The 2.5 Factor. Every femicide leaves behind an average of 2.5 children who lose both parents in a single day. LUCY33 provides the first global protocols for their school reintegration.
NEW LENS ANGLE: 1M People affected uncounted, unnamed; LUCY33 is an analytical framework that allows put on a new pair of glasses to expand the vision we have of femicide realities; from one victim to a constellation of people impacted.
